Uganda is one of Africa’s major coffee producers and the birthplace of Robusta coffee. The country grows both Robusta, mainly in the Central and Lake Victoria Crescent regions, and Arabica, grown in the highlands of Mount Elgon, the Rwenzori Mountains, and West Nile. Ugandan coffee is known for its rich, bold Robusta with chocolatey and earthy notes, and bright, fruity Arabica from the mountains. Coffee supports millions of smallholder farmers and remains one of Uganda’s most important export crops.
