Vanuatu's coffee is a rare, high-quality, and entirely organic industry centered on its volcanic islands. The main production is concentrated on Espiritu Santo, particularly the Saratamata area in the east, where rich volcanic soil and ideal climate produce smooth, balanced beans. Tanna Island is the other key region, famous for its coffee grown in the ash-enriched volcanic soil at the base of Mount Yasur, which imparts a unique, distinctively rich and sometimes spicy character. Smaller, boutique production also exists on Malekula and Ambrym. All Vanuatu coffee is shade-grown, hand-picked, and processed with meticulous care, resulting in a clean, well-balanced cup with signature smooth body, mild acidity, and notes of nuts, chocolate, and tropical sweetness. It is a boutique origin prized for its purity and unique island terroir.
