NORTHERN HIGHLANDS The Northern Highlands are Burundi’s most prominent coffee-growing area, known for producing high-quality Arabica Bourbon beans. The region lies at 1,400–2,000 meters above sea level, with fertile volcanic soils and a cool, equatorial climate that allows slow cherry maturation, enhancing sweetness, acidity, and complexity. Northern highland coffee growing districts include; Ngozi (Produces coffees with bright acidity, berry and citrus notes, and floral aromas), Kayanza (Known for fruity, vibrant coffees with complex flavour profiles and excellent cup clarity) and Kirundo (Offers clean, aromatic coffees with balanced acidity and subtle sweetness)
