     Chiapas's main coffee growing regions are in its highlands and coastal areas, particularly the Soconusco region near the border with Guatemala. The diverse geography of the state, including mountains and valleys, creates ideal conditions for growing coffee at altitudes between 1,200 and 1,800 meters. Other important areas include the La Fraylesca region, and the highlands are generally a significant production zone.
