Tomoca Coffee is one of Ethiopia’s oldest and most iconic coffee companies, founded in 1953 in Addis Ababa. The name “Tomoca” comes from the Italian words Torrefazione Moderna Caffé, meaning “modern coffee roasting.” Established as the first coffee roaster and retailer of its kind in the country, Tomoca helped shape Ethiopia’s modern coffee culture while preserving the deep traditional roots of its people’s coffee heritage.

Since its early days, Tomoca has been known for its distinct roasting style that blends Italian espresso influence with Ethiopia’s pure Arabica beans. The company sources high-altitude beans from regions like Sidama, Yirgacheffe, and Harar, ensuring rich aroma and strong, full-bodied flavor. Their coffee is loved both by locals and international visitors for its freshness and consistency, served in a warm, traditional yet modern café setting.

Today, Tomoca Coffee has grown into a well-recognized Ethiopian brand with more than 20 branches across Addis Ababa. It has also expanded beyond Ethiopia, opening its first international outlet in Nairobi, Kenya, and exporting its roasted beans to markets in Europe, Asia, and the United States. Through steady growth and deep respect for Ethiopian coffee traditions, Tomoca continues to represent the country’s excellence in coffee craftsmanship to the world.
