NORTHWEST REGION (NDU, KUMBO)
The Northwest Region of Cameroon, including areas like Ndu and Kumbo, is a major coffee-producing region known for its high-altitude, volcanic soil, and ample rainfall. This region is home to the North West Cooperative Association (NWCA), one of the oldest and largest coffee cooperatives in Cameroon, which represents over 35,000 smallholder farmers growing both Arabica and Robusta coffee.
The region's high altitude (1,200 to 2,200 meters) and rich volcanic soils are ideal for high-quality coffee production. It produces both Arabica and Robusta coffee varieties, with Arabica being particularly well-suited to the highland conditions. Coffee is often grown under the shade of kola nut trees, which contributes to its unique flavour. The North West Cooperative Association (NWCA) represents a large number of smallholder farmers in the region.
Kumbo is a key administrative and economic center within the Bui division of the Northwest Region, and Ndu is a subdivision in the Donga-Mantung division, both participating in coffee production
