PARANÁ
Paraná Situated in southern Brazil, north of Santa Catarina and west of São Paulo, with coffee production centered in Norte Pioneiro do Paraná. It has Subtropical climate with cooler temperatures (16–20°C) and rainfall of about 1,200–1,600 mm annually.
Once Brazil’s leading coffee producer in the mid-20th century, Paraná’s industry declined after severe frosts in the 1970s but remains regionally important for smallholder livelihoods and local markets. It produces primarily Arabica coffee grown on family farms at altitudes of 600–800 meters. The region’s beans are mild, clean, and low-acid, often used in blends.
Current production averages 1–1.5 million 60-kg bags per year, contributing around 2 to 3% of Brazil’s coffee total.
