SÃO PAULO
Found in south-eastern Brazil, bordering Minas Gerais to the north and Paraná to the south. The main producing area is the Mogiana region, situated along the border with Minas Gerais. Characterized by mild temperatures (17–22°C) and moderate rainfall, the region’s highlands (800 1,200 m) provide favourable conditions for slow bean maturation.
São Paulo’s coffee sector supports thousands of farming families and processing facilities, with Mogiana coffee frequently used in specialty blends and exports. The region specializes in Arabica coffee, grown on small and medium farms using both traditional sun-drying and modern processing techniques. The red volcanic soil enhances bean quality, producing full-bodied, aromatic coffees.
Produces approximately 4–5 million 60-kg bags annually, contributing around 8–10% of Brazil’s Arabica output.
